Exclusive guitar signed by Paul McCartney and Tracey Emin to be won in Guitars on the Beach raffle
THE top prize in this year’s Guitars on the Beach raffle is a world exclusive collectors’ item.
A brand new Fender acoustic guitar signed by Beatles legend Paul McCartney is up for grabs, alongside a signed original beach drawing by English contemporary artist Tracey Emin.
The two celebrities are supporting the Lyme Regis event to help raise money for this year’s charity, Cancer Research.
The unique guitar can be won in the raffle for the price of a ticket at just £1, which can be bought at the event on Saturday 3 September or on the website, www.guitarsonthebeach.com

Guitars on the Beach (GOTB), which is held on Lyme’s sand beach, will once again attempt to break the world record for the biggest guitar band, having already secured the UK record for a 3,000-member band.
Guitarists are being encouraged to learn the two record attempt songs – Buddy Holly’s Rave On and That’ll be the Day – and chord sheets and tabs are available on the website.
Although most people are expected to attend on Saturday 3 September, events will continue on Sunday, with a mass play-along on both days.
For advanced guitarists, as well as the record attempt songs, there will be are David Bowie’s ‘Rebel Rebel’, ‘Surfin’ USA’ by the Beach Boys, Eddie Cochran’s ‘Three Steps on Heaven’, and ‘Under the Boardwalk’ by the Drifters.
Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Kenny Young will lead the band for his song ‘Under the Boardwalk’, which was a hit for The Drifters in 1964.
Kenny is flying in from the USA to perform on both days.
Bands will start playing on the beach stage from around 10.30am on both days.
On the Saturday, the record attempt will be at 5pm, followed by a Buddy Holly 80th birthday rock 'n' roll tribute set, with songs from Buddy, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper.
Buddy will this year be played by Ollie Harris.
Saturday will be closed mid-evening by local band Papa Le Gal.
A full line-up and times of all bands will follow shortly.
As well as the surrounding pubs, this year there will be a Bar On The Beach run by Lyme Regis Brewery, which will make a donation from each pint to Cancer Research.
This year’s GOTB t-shirts are available in advance from the website and are £12 for adults and £10 for children.
Also up for grabs in the raffle is an electric guitar, a Stratocaster copy, signed by Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan, an old friend of GOTB who led the band in ‘Smoke on the Water’ two years ago.
The event’s sponsor Blackstar Amplification will be at the event on both days and a number of their compact mini amps can be won in the raffle.
