Quality Ratings

Example VisitEngland, AA and Dorset Approved Visitor Accommodation Scheme logos

Properties showing a star rating have been inspected and all conform to AA or Visit England standards. There are many four and five star-rated destinations in Lyme Regis and the wider area, and an extensive list of them - which includes contact details and prices - can be found on this website.

Properties showing Dorset Approved Visitor Accommodation meet the standards set by that scheme. This scheme ensures the property has met all legal requirements regarding health and safety and that good customer practices are being implemented. This scheme is accredited by VisitEngland using criteria implemented nationally.

Prices and Booking

The prices and descriptions shown are based on information supplied by the individual accommodation provider. The pricing basis (for example per person per night, per room per night including breakfast, per unit, per week) is indicated for each establishment. It is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Accommodation providers can be contacted directly using the details on the listings, or contact Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre on 01297 442138.

If you choose to book Lyme Regis accommodation at the last minute, the tourist information centre can offer a free booking service for personal callers on arrival.

Given the popularity of the town with tourists all-year-round, you may be surprised to learn how little staying here can cost. With easy access to the sea, a charming town centre and tranquil rolling countryside nearby, you could be forgiven for thinking that bedroom tariffs would typically be high. This is not the case, however, with prices kept low at even the most attractive and sought-after locations.

Lyme Regis Museum

Bridge Street,

There really is something to delight and inspire everyone at Lyme Regis Museum. Enjoying a stunning seafront location on the world famous Jurassic Coast with fantastic views over Lyme Bay, you’ll find fossils galore in the new interactive geology gallery, a new learning centre (great fun for families), local history, famous writers, fossil hunting walks and of course Lyme’s most famous fossil hunter, Mary Anning.

Built on the site of her former home, here you will discover the story of the remarkable and important contribution Mary Anning made to the development of modern scientific thought – against all the odds.

The new Mary Anning Wing opened in 2017 and now there is more than ever to see, do and learn. Children enjoy free entry to this family-friendly museum, and are very welcome. They will love exploring the Cabinet of Curiosities and new museum trails! There’s plenty to interest adults and those who wish to go into more depth too, all wrapped up in a charming Grade 11 listed building
complete with beautiful spiral staircase.

With a full calendar of events on offer plus special family events in school holidays, there’s lots going on in this lively museum. Why not combine your visit with one of our fossil walks, or go and explore the town with its lovely beach and famous Cobb – it makes for a wonderful day out! Why choose our fossil walks? Well, not only do they last a full 3 hours, but our guides are expert geologists known for their friendly and helpful approach and are full of passion for all things fossil.
