6th September - 7th September
Following on from the successful Crab and Mackerel Festivals earlier this summer, another packed weekend is planned for September. Mark Hix and festival organiser Jo Harris of HIX Restaurants Ltd, have partnered with the RNLI again to put on Food Rocks. Generously sponsored by VZUG, Bulthaup Exeter, Lyme Bay Holidays, Palmers Brewery and By The Bay, Food Rocks is a fun-filled weekend of demonstrations, masterclasses and tastings held all around the town of Lyme Regis, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September.
Food Rocks has been organized to raise money for the RNLI while having great fun, tasting some amazing food and drink from Dorset, and learning lots from local chefs and producers. The marquee and demo stage, sponsored by VZUG premium Swiss quality appliances and Bulthaup Exeter, will be situated at the bottom of Lister Gardens overlooking the beach.
With cookery demonstrations from Angela Hartnett, Willie Harcourt Cooze, Tom Parker Bowles, Mitch Tonks and Mat Follas amongst many others, there is something for everyone. The Marine Theatre will host ‘How to’ demos and hands on masterclasses including making sugarcraft flowers, dressing crabs, cocktails from internationallyrenowned mixologist Nick Strangeway and kids’ cookery classes. The Malthouse at the Townmill will host talks and tastings including how chocolate goes from bean to bar, how to forage for your dinner and how to smoke and cure your own food at home.
And of course there will be a host of hand-picked local producers selling their wares in the Parade Shelters and Theatre Square. There is no entry free so pop down with friends and family and make a weekend of it!
