What on Earth Happened?

The complete story of the planet, life and people in 60 minutes!

In this unique interactive workshop the author, historian and former Sunday Times journalist, Christopher Lloyd, embarks on an epic journey in a bid to connect the dots of the past. Using story-telling techniques borrowed from Ancient Greece, he presents 20 key moments in the history of planet, life and people using a series of everyday objects.

Watch history and science get stitched back together as the key themes of big history reveal themselves with interactive audience participation that dovetails the growth of human civilisations with evolutionary biology, modern science with pre-historic art and the rise of

My 8 year old son has just returned home from hearing Christopher speak in Bath today. When I asked him if it was interesting his reply was “I can’t tell you how interesting as I haven’t a word that can describe it, but it was beyond awesome!”

The backdrop to this amazing show is the world’s biggest book – 2 metres high and nearly 8 metres long – a giant version of Chris’s amazing Wallbook. The book features more than 1,000 pictures and captions that tell the story of the planet, life and people from the beginning of time to the present day.

Twelve streams of colour provide the backdrops along a timeline on which all the major events of natural and human history unfold. Space, Earth, Sky, Sea, Land and Humanity account for the story of evolution while Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Australasia convey the rise and fall of human civilisations.
