Banksy on the Bank? Speculation about Mystery Lyme Regis wall painting
An Origami-style wall painting of a wading bird in the act of catching a fish has been the subject of much speculation in Lyme Regis since it appeared in the resort in February 2012.

Residents say that the bird, delicately poised by the River Lim in the centre of the historic old town, was painted over a couple of nights, but the identity of the artist remains unknown.
The mystery graffiti has become something of a tourist attraction in the heart of the town with photographs being posted across the Internet. Some have suggested that the picture is the work of Banksy, but there is no evidence to confirm this. Lyme Regis has a lively artist community but so far no local painter has come forward to take credit for the work. Graffiti in a conservation area might normally be frowned on, but most residents and visitors staying in Lyme Regis accommodation seem to welcome this graceful addition to the many attractions of the seaside town.
