Barfleur Win for Lyme Regis Artist

News has just come that local artist Hugh Dunford Wood shared First Prize with Frenchman Pascale lePetit in the 'Letter to Barfleur' Postal Art competition.

Hugh Dunford Wood's winning entry to the Barfleur postal art competitionMr Dunford Wood won favour in the public vote for his amusing picture of four British stamps 'rowing' a gig from the Cobb to Barfleur harbour. It's nice to know that the Barfleurais share our sense of fun.

Of the 50 envelopes entered, 21 of them were decorated by Lyme artists, and all of them were exhibited during the month of May at the post office in Barfleur, the Normandy port that will be twinned next year with Lyme Regis.

But you haven't missed your chance to see the Dunford Wood entry, the other prize-winners and all the other envelopes, as they will be displayed at the Lister Room, Marine Parade Shelters during ArtsFest (8-16 Sept) alongside new entries in the recently announced 'Letter to Lyme Regis' Postal Art contest. If you're keen to see this and other art events in early September, check out Lyme Regis accommodation; if you want more details about entering Letter to Lyme Regis, please visit the ArtsFest website (www.lymeregisartsfest.com).
