Don't miss the Fossil Festival, 4-6 May, 2012, Lyme Regis and Charmouth
Organisers of the annual Lyme Regis Fossil Festival are gearing up to welcome thousands of visitors to the free Grand Marquee.
Make sure that you don't miss this great festival with plenty to see and lots of hands-on activities for all ages. Don't leave it too late and make sure that you book well in advance to be sure of securing your Lyme Regis accommodation.

Fossils have played a pivotal role in the birth of the earth sciences. They’ve helped scientists to understand that our earth is billions of years old, that life forms evolved and continue to do so, that much of the earth and stone we walk upon was created when sediment was deposited on the bottom of ancient sea-beds, and that this sea-bed – indeed the whole of the earth’s crust – is moving all the time.
In addition to music, theatre, a Fossil Fair, and fossil walks and talks, visit the Travelling Pliosaur Cinema, and take a simulated flight along the Jurassic Coast in Onboard. Dozens of scientists from the Natural History Museum will be on hand to chat with visitors, and the British Antarctic Survey will be back too, with all the kit they use to keep warm in the frozen South!
Join dozens of scientists from the Natural History Museum in the Grand Marquee. They're bringing along some of their favourite fossils, and you'll be able to sieve for (and keep!) shark's teeth, but you can also get a taste of what it's like to work in other areas of natural history and science. Botanists, mineralogists, entymologists, meteoricists, and many more - they're all eager to chat to visitors about what they do, and to help you have a go at all the hands-on activities
