Fossil Festival Fun - exclusive video from inside the marquee on the first day
The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival is finally underway and is an instant success with the scores of school children who are visiting today.
The free Grand Marquee is stuffed to the rafters with hands-on activities for all ages. Already, everyone is enthusiastically participating (not just the kids) and there are 40 scientists from the Natural History Museum who are on hand, along with many more from the British Antarctic Survey, Portsmouth, Plymouth and Southampton among many others.
This year's festival is the sixth annual Fossil Festival, it has become a major international event in the world of arts and Earth sciences, bringing together around 14,000 children, adults, scientists and artists for a weekend of fossiling fun and frolics.
This year the theme is Discovering the Earth, so if you are staying in Lyme Regis accommodation over the weekend make sure that you get out and join in. Make sure that you visit Horace, the only Travelling Pliosaur Cinema in captivity and then take a ride back in time with a flight on 'Onboard' from Lyme Regis airport.
