Local music group enjoys success
A youth music group based in Lyme Regis has been making waves in the local area and is all set to continue in its growing success, according to an organisational review.
The group has recently been awarded grants by West Dorset District Council and the Arts Council England, so that its aim of improving the lives of young people through music and art continues to be fulfilled.
B Sharp has been building performances with a variety of schools and community organisations since 2007, and this year will take its talents to venues like the Eden Project and the opening ceremony of Weymouth’s Olympic sailing programme.
Fran Williams, who acts as director of the organisation, has been widely praised for her efforts at making B Sharp such a success. Chairman of the review Ayvin Rogers noted how around 80% of Fran’s workload is done on a voluntary basis, which is partly why the group is considering an application to become a registered charity. If this were achieved, B Sharp would be able to officially employ a wider staff and expand its scope even further.
