Lyme Regis rowers commemorated with plaque
Lyme Regis Town Council has announced that the achievements of a record-breaking local rowing crew will be honoured with the installation of a special commemorative plaque at the town’s Jubilee Pavilion.
The four-man group, who go under by the name The Corinthians, sailed into prominence after completing the 2,550 mile Talisker Challenge last year. Undertaking an incredible journey from the Canary Islands to Barbados, Brian Fletcher, Chris Walters, Tony Short and Elliot Dale - who all hail from Lyme Regis – achieved fame by becoming the oldest team to have successfully completed the Atlantic crossing.
The pavilion, which was chosen as a suitable location for the plaque as it overlooks the sea, is being renamed to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations which are taking place throughout the year.
If you want to see what else this charming destination has to offer, be sure to look up the fine selection of Lyme Regis hotels in the area and enjoy a holiday to remember.
