Lyme Regis to be twinned with Barfleur in Normandy
Lyme Regis will soon have its very own French connection once plans to twin the town with Barfleur in Normandy go ahead.
A meeting last week saw residents turn out in support of the plans, and the official twinning ceremonies on each side of the channel are scheduled for later in the year.
There are plenty of benefits to twinning for Lyme Regis hotels, shops, visitors and residents, as organisations from both towns will now find it much easier to work together with and enhance their respective cultural events and communities. Already there is talk about getting representatives of Barfleurais businesses to attend the French/English food festival and the Jubilee parade.
With ideas like these already buzzing around, it’s clear that the twinning will bring a lot to Lyme Regis in the coming months and years, and visitors to the town are sure to find their trip even more enjoyable because of it.
