Lyme’s new lifeboat impresses on maiden voyage
The Spirit of Loch Fyne, the new lifeboat that will be serving the waters surrounding Lyme Regis, has been greeted with enthusiastic reviews from its three-man crew following its maiden voyage.
Named after the chain of quality seafood restaurants which raised the £180,000 needed to fund the service, the new vessel has been fitted with a range of high tech equipment designed to maximise its life-saving ability, including radar and the latest navigation devices.
Conditions were choppy out at sea during the test, which gave a good indication that the boat will be well suited to the challenging situations that can sometimes complicate rescue attempts.
Emotions ran high over the weekend as the much admired Spirit of Loch Fyne replaced the Pearl of Dorset, which successfully served the town for almost 15 years.
With the area’s sparkling waters kept safe by the brand new Spirit of Loch Fyne, why not look up a Lyme Regis B&B today and take your chance to explore this beautiful town?
